What a horrible birthday it has turned out to be for my sweet *almost* 5 year old boy. Logan has been sick all week with a nasty tummy bug. He even had to go to urgent care earlier in the week because he was so dehydrated and could not stop puking. They gave him IV fluids and some meds to make the puking stop.

Ugh. My poor buddy. He spent his last day as a 4 yr old in the car driving to our doctor to get checked out since he has still been so sick. She verified that it is a super nasty stomach bug and that we just need to be patient. Being patient is hard, though… since his birthday is tomorrow and Christmas is Sunday. At this time, the other two haven’t caught it***… but I feel like they’re just two little ticking time bombs waiting to explode. Literally.

So, how did we get here? How on earth can my first baby be 5 years old already? Why is my life flying by so freaking fast? So many questions– I sound like Logan! This kid is so curious. He’s constantly asking questions and I just love it. We try to always have patience with his questions and take the time to sit down and explain things– or find the answer if we have to turn to Google. Speaking of, what the hell did parents of curious 5 year olds do pre-computer?

My sweet, snuggly boy loves to be outside. He loves to run, jump, climb, and ride his bike. He loves to get dirty– one of his favorite things to do is to play in the mud or in the creek behind our house. He recently figured out how to make himself burp and makes farting noises non-stop. Oh, the joys of being a mom.

Logan has recently decided that he would like to try homeschooling for Kindergarten instead of starting in public school. This was my plan and hope all along, so I’m just glad that he’s excited about it and on board. We laid it all out for him and let him make the decision– we really want him (and all of the kids) to be in charge of their own learning. And honestly, I’m not sure if Logan is cut out for sitting in a classroom all day, everyday. He has so much energy, I fear that he would have behavioral issues if he were expected to sit at a desk.  We will see how it goes!

Here are a few photos from our most recent photo session with Miranda!

***EDIT- The other two did eventually catch the plague. Lorelei started puking in the morning of Logan’s birthday and Atticus started later that afternoon. I just remember Logan sitting on the couch crying wanting to know why everyone was sick on his birthday. 🙁
