My sweet baby girl is somehow 2 years old already–this life of mine is flying by so freaking fast. Every time I sit down to add to our blog, I get so nostalgic and sometimes even sad that time is flying by so quickly. But it’s helpful for me– to put things in perspective and help me to slow down and savor these moments. And try to blog as much as possible so I can remember everything. Like the smell of her sweaty little baby head when she wakes up from a nap. Or the way she puts her little arm around my neck and holds on tight. Or the adorable little looks she gets on her face. I know that down the road I will be grateful that I carved out this time to record these memories.

Anyway, our sweet Pea Pie turned 2 on March 14th. We started our day by sleeping late. And that little butt in the air… I just can’t. <3

Our newest birthday tradition is to decorate the house so the birthday boy or girl wakes up to a celebration. Lorelei was pretty excited about the balloons. They’re her favorite!

We also made a special breakfast! Smilie face cake cakes!

Our Aunt Pucci has been in town visiting as she works on transitioning to living back in Texas from New York. We decided to all go eat lunch with Grandma. But first… a couple of photos of our birthday girl:

Grandma took us to a Mexican restaurant so the kids could get their free ice cream– and so Momma could get her chips and salsa fix. Mmmmmm….

After lunch, Grandma took Lorelei shopping so she could pick out her birthday present. Surprisingly, Lorelei chose a Moana doll. I wasn’t sure if she liked the movie– the couple of times we’ve tried to watch it with her, she’s gotten scared and started crying. She especially dislikes the part where Baby Moana gets close to the water. She loves the doll, though!

Another fun birthday tradition we recently started is the birthday kiddo making their own birthday dessert with me! Lorelei wanted “Cake Cake” and she really liked getting to help in the kitchen.

Also– I’m embracing my hot mess look. Normally, I would cull this photo out and it wouldn’t make it into the blog, but eff that. Here I am in all my beautiful glory–super dirty hair and broken out face. You’re welcome!

I love her so, so much. Her silly little faces.<3

And may I present the ugliest cake ever made! I am by no means a baker… obviously. In my defense it was pretty tasty and Lorelei loved it, so that’s all that matters!

We made a bonfire and cooked out for the birthday girl.

And then she opened presents! She got some books, clothes, art supplies, a backpack, and some thrifted pots and pans for the mud kitchen Chris built for the kids.

Then we sang happy birthday!

She was excited about the “Cake Cake”, but she wasn’t quite sure how to blow out the candles. We sat there for a while trying to coach her through how to blow them out.

It took a lot of patience from Logan and Atti who begged to ‘help’ her blow them out so they could get on with it and eat cake. She got one of them out and then was trying to figure out how to get the second one blown out.

In the end, she got a little help from me. 🙂

Happy birthday sweet Lorelei! We love you very much!
