We survived our first week home with 2 kiddos. Here are a million photos from that first week. We couldn’t have made it without the love and support from our amazing family and friends. Thank you so much guys!

Our guy was born at 2:47 pm on Monday, October 21, 2013. We were on our way home from the birth center 3.5 hours later. Recovery this time around was WAY different than the first time. After Logan was born, I felt like I wanted to crawl in a hole and die. This time around I was a little sore and tired, but all-in-all I felt great. Our families decided that they were going to go out to eat after they left the birth center, and I remember feeling sad that we weren’t going to be able to go with them. They did bring us take out and stop by for a visit afterwards, which was nice because Chris and I got to spend some alone time with our Squish.

My sister was in town helping me out the last few weeks of the pregnancy so she took Logan to my Dad’s house to spend the night so Chris and I could get some rest and focus on Baby Squish. Here was my view waking up on Tuesday morning. Our first night at home was not bad at all because Squish slept most of the night. I had trouble sleeping, but I think it was just all of the excitement from the day.

A little later in the day, Lauren brought Logan home for a visit. She also brought Grandma so she could meet Squish.

The next day we started out our morning with our herbal bath photo session. We used the photo from the herbal bath to announce Baby Squish’s name on Facebook– Atticus Luke. Logan also came home from my Dad’s house and got to spend some quality time with his new brother.

We made it through our first night having both boys under one roof. We were worried that Logan might wake up through out the night since his schedule got off being at my Dad’s for a couple of days, but he slept all the way through. Hooray! I had my hands full because I was up every couple of hours nursing the new guy.

We went to our 3 day check up at the birth center on Thursday. We had a nice long visit– that’s one of the things I love about midwifery care– the time they take with you. Chris and I were there for over an hour while they checked out Atti and we talked about the birth. Patty went through the birth notes with me and helped me piece everything together so I could process the whole experience. I think I was still in shock about how it all happened… and how quickly it happened. Atticus weighed 8 lbs and .5 oz. He didn’t lose any weight… just like his brother! I am actually kind of surprised that he didn’t lose any weight. He pooped about 12 times his first 24 hours… I was sure we were going to go back to the birth center and he was going to weigh 2 lbs less than he did at birth!

This video is a clip of Atticus sucking on his hand, which is what he was doing when we had our last sono. He also makes a cute little noise. <3

Here’s a little video of Atticus looking around. He’s got some crazy strong neck muscles for being such a tiny guy. And he’s so alert and loves to look around. He’s already growing too fast! He needs to slow down!!

On Saturday, when Atticus was 5 days old, we went out to dinner with my family to say goodbye to ‘Aunt Pucci’. I was nervous about going out with a tiny newborn and a toddler, but Atticus slept the entire time and Logan did great.
