We’ve had a great week! Sarah has been out of town, so we have been at home all week getting caught up on cleaning the house and playing with our friends.
Last weekend we hosted the Big Latch On in Denton with our Baby Ladies and Crunchy Mamas groups. We had dinner with Nana and Pop Pop on Saturday evening and on Sunday we spent the majority of the day at home piddling around.
The rest of the week was spent playing with Megan and Oliver. We went to the pool a couple of times (we were rained out the first time) and went to the mall. I bought my first pair of jeans since having Logan and they are a size SMALLER than what I wore pre-baby. I was so excited I almost started crying in Banana Republic. Seriously. I’ve never in my whole life gone to buy jeans and left happy. I guess the breastfeeding and making cleaner/healthier food choices since Logan was born has really started to pay off. Speaking of food… Logan’s eating has made tremendous gains lately. He’s been trying more things and showing a preference in what he wants to eat and what he doesn’t. On Friday, Chris and I were eating some crock pot meatballs, homemade mashed potatoes and some mixed veggies. I had put some veggies on Logan’s tray along with some cut up fruit (blueberries, cherries, tomatoes) and a spoon full of mashed potatoes for him to feed himself. He was watching me eat the meatballs and reaching for them. So, I cut one up into smaller chunks and he ate it… and LOVED it. He’s doing such a great job!

Since we are doing baby-led weaning to teach Logan how to eat solids, he gets pretty messy. BLW is supposed to be completely child-led, meaning he controls what goes into his mouth… even things that have to be put on a spoon. Needless to say, when we are at home, he has to eat dinner in his diaper because he generally makes a huge mess. After dinner, we almost always have to go straight to the tub to rinse off. Since he’s gotten older, he loves bathtime.

In milestone news… our TinyFat decided to start shaking his head ‘no’ this week. I noticed him doing it while he was playing with a toy that moves its head. Then one night, Chris shook his head and Logan shook his back at him. He’s also used a head shake to communicate ‘no’ when I tried to put some food into his mouth during dinner. What a bad Momma. Mr. Independent wants to feed himself! On Tuesday, Logan pooped on the potty for the first time. Seriously. I mean, he didn’t initiate or anything, but he totally pooped on the potty. I noticed that he got into the poop position (holding onto the train table, squatting down, and grunting) and so I grabbed him to go change his diaper… but he wasn’t finished! So instead of putting another diaper on him to finish up, I just plopped him down on the potty and he finished his business there! I’m thinking about getting a potty chair and keeping an eye out for poop signals!
On Friday we had our 6 month well check up… 1.5 months late. Oops. We’ve just gotten so busy that I didn’t make the appointment in time. When I finally did call, they couldn’t get us in immediately. You have to book well visits a month in advance with our pedi. Anyway, the appointment went great. Logan is now 19 lbs and 27.75 inches tall. Both of those are in the 70th percentile. His giant head is in the 80th percentile, which is okay cause that just means he has a huge brain. 🙂 Dr. Newell said that he looks super healthy and then went through his spiel about baby safety now that our guy is so incredibly mobile. We were warned about drowning and pulling things on top of himself…etc. He pretty much scared the bejesus out of us. I want to keep Logue in a bubble and not let him out. Ever.
That is pretty much the extent of our week. I leave you with some photos taken at random throughout the week:
