We had a great week!  Mainly because it was a short week for the Momma.  I had to take today off because our Pucci Nanny has to drive to Arkansas for her graduation.  We are going too, but not leaving until this evening when Gramps gets back from a fishing trip.  Yeah, it’s TinyFat’s first road trip.  I’m a little bit nervous and choosing to blog right now instead of getting things ready to go.  Avoidant behavior is my favorite behavior…

.

We spent last weekend around the house.  I went garage saling on Saturday morning and picked up some great finds!  I got a tiny table and chairs for the play room, 8 children’s books, a puzzle, a board game, a little walker/rider toy, and some mason jars… all for $20!  We are currently in the process of repainting the table and chairs.  Pictures and a blog post to come when we are finished!

.

We have a garden this year that is doing quite well, so we will need these when it comes time to start canning and preserving our goods!

.

The rest of the weekend, we worked around the house and in the garden.  Again, I have a ton of pictures of the garden and its progress, but I’m going to wait and blog about it later.  A tiny sneak peek, though… our first veggie harvest of the season:

Organically grown green beans from our garden.

.

We didn’t get a whole lot, but it was enough for a small side dish with last night’s dinner!  Plus, the more you harvest, the more your green bean  plants will produce.  We also have a tomato that’s coming along nicely and will be ready to pick soon.  We’ve already harvested basil and cilantro from our herb garden several times.  It’s a pretty awesome feeling to eat the herbs and veggies that we have grown.  It makes the hard work and effort worth it.  Plus, TinyFat loves going outside with the Momma every evening to “help” water the plants.  Well, he mostly just sits in his bouncer and watches.  Soon enough he will actually be helping!

.

Our TinyGuy also helped out in the kitchen this week.  We have been practicing sitting in our high chair for when we start solids here in about a month.  He likes watching the Momma cook dinner.

.

The TinyFat also decided that he wanted to try his first beer this week.  He wasn’t too keen on the IPA the Daddy was drinking.  I think he’s decided that he’s a milk stout kinda guy. 🙂

We had some fun snuggle time this week.  Our guy was a little clingier than normal, so I made sure he got some extra lovin’ and attention from the Momma.

.

Now that he  can reach his toes, he never lets them go.  He’s still working on getting them in his mouth… he’s done it a few times, but it seems that he inherited some inflexibility from the Momma.

.

We also took a nap in the Momma and Daddy’s bed this week.  It always makes me nervous since he’s been rolling all over the place, so I generally will cat nap next to him and surround him with pillows.  He likes feeling like he’s cocooned in.  And I like watching him sleep.  It’s a win-win!

On Thursday, we had our 4 month well baby check up with our favorite doctor.  TinyFat weighs 16lbs 7oz (80th percentile) and is 26.5 inches tall (90th percentile).  He’s meeting all of his milestones and looks great!  The doc wants us to start brushing his teeth, so I’m on the search for a tiny toothbrush and tooth paste that I feel comfortable using in his little mouth.  If anyone has any suggestions on any that does not contain fluoride or any of the other yucky unnatural stuff, please let me know!  We talked with the doctor about his recommendations for starting solids.  We’ve been doing research into baby-led weaning and wanted his opinion on it.  He’s given us the green light to do whatever feels natural and comfortable for us, but recommends that we wait until he’s 6 months old, or until his tongue-thrust reflex is gone, before we introduce any solids.  That’s where when you put something on baby’s tongue, he spits it out.  It’s a reflex that keeps babies from choking and it usually goes away around the 6 month mark…right around the time when the baby’s digestive system is mature enough for solids.  Oh Mother Nature… she really does have everything all figured out.  Here’s our TinyGuy at the doctor’s office.  He looks like such a big boy!

.

And last but not least, we leave you with some video.  Logan has discovered that mirrors are fun.  And it’s pretty hilarious.
