Last weekend the kids and I headed down to Lake Travis (near Austin) to celebrate Gram’s birthday. Chris wasn’t able to come along because he had to work since he had already taken a long vacation in June (Gulf Shores). We were really sad that he couldn’t come with us and also very grateful for how hard he works for our family!
The family rented an awesome house right on the lake that came with it’s own private dock. We had SO much fun swimming and hanging out with everyone. And eating. OMG, I think I ate more last weekend than I have all year!
PLUS… look who I got to snuggle:
Y’ALL!!!!!! I’ve been trying to meet this baby since he was born. But between me having to cancel because of illness or my schedule just not lining up with Hima’s, it hadn’t happened yet!! I can’t even explain how excited I was to snuggle him. AND his Momma!! It has been WAY too long. Even Gram got her snuggle on…
This child loves watermelon more than he loves me. He’s also the only one in our family who eats it… so he eats a full watermelon by himself at least once a week!
Lorelei was not interested in having her photo taken.
After we sang happy birthday, Gramps surprised Gram with a proposal! They are coming up on their 10 year wedding anniversary and are having a recommitment ceremony in Antigua in a couple of weeks. So awesome!
The view from the back porch. It was so beautiful!
The next morning Logan discovered kayaking and holy crap… it’s all he has been talking about since the trip!
Chris and Melissa took us for a ride on their badass boat!
You can see the house we stayed at on the left in this photo. There were stairs and a very steep, winding path through the trees to get down to the water. It was a workout, but it was worth it!
I don’t think I’ve ever had this much fun swimming in a lake!
The next day, Logan did some more kayaking, haha!
And Lorelei fed the fish. One of the kids’ favorite things to do was swim under the dock to see all the fish. For some reason the water was really lit up by the sun underneath the dock and it was pretty clear so you could see the fish really well.
It took her some time, but she finally warmed up to being around the water.
That night we had a fire and Spencer sang us some songs with his guitar. At one point, Logan looked up at the sky and said, “MOMMA! LOOK UP! The sky is SOOOO big! And look at ALL the stars! I can’t believe it!!!!” And then my heart exploded because it might just be the cutest thing he’s ever said. EVER!
Awesome Pics!!!!!!!!
