Remember my post about #projectselfcare?? Well, I fell in love with doing YWA in person during July’s community event so I decided that I *had* to go again in August. This time, though, I took the family along and we had a fun family weekend exploring Austin!

We stayed at McKinney Falls State Park, which is a beautiful location that is literally in the middle of the city. It was so strange to be in the hustle and bustle one minute and then surrounded by nature the next. It was August when we went (I’m FINALLY sitting down to blog this in November) and it was really hot. We were very lucky to get a really shady camping spot that was in a good location for the boys to ride their bikes.

Once we got set up, we set out on a hike to the lower falls. There hadn’t been much rain in Texas during this time, so the falls weren’t flowing and the water level of the creek was down pretty far. But there was still plenty to explore!

We came back to the campsite and got a campfire going so we could make dinner. Lorelei looks a little bit like a homeless forest child, haha!

The next morning we headed out on another hike, this time to see the upper falls. We were surprised to find people swimming! I didn’t realize that it was a popular area for swimming… we had already made plans for the rest of the day so we didn’t get to swim on this trip. Maybe next time!

So, I was about 5 weeks pregnant with Baby Cuatro here. Like I mentioned before, I’m writing this in November so I’ve gone public with the info. In fact, this pregnancy is the main reason why I’m just now getting around to blogging about this trip, haha!

After a quick lunch at the campsite, we headed to the children’s museum. We were able to get in for free with our local museum membership reciprocity, hooray! This place was so cool. I wish we had something like this near us.

After a pit stop for an early dinner and some ice cream, we headed over to the Capitol building. Surprisingly enough, Chris and I had both never been there!

This girl was worn out.

And the boys were in love with this interesting water fountain outside the Capitol.

We spent the evening hanging out at the campsite and letting the kids explore and get absolutely filthy. Apparently playing ash is super fun.

The next morning I got to go do yoga with Adriene and we left for home right after lunch time. It was a great weekend!!
