We recently took a trip to Mississippi to visit Chris’ extended family and attend his cousin’s wedding. It was a quick little weekend getaway, and it was a blast. We woke up super early on Friday morning so we could arrive by lunchtime and have a little time to visit with family. It was hard to wake these sweet faces…

Then we got on the road. This was our second road trip with 2 kids. We are getting to be old pros at traveling with children. We listed to a little Game of Thrones on audio book while the kids napped.

This guy had a major case of sleepy face at our first stop. I think he was majorly confused because he didn’t really wake up very much when we put him in the car. We just scooped him up and buckled him in. Atticus on the other hand was a completely different story. He woke up and screamed for the first 5 minutes of our drive. He then promptly fell back to sleep.

And these two photos are because I’m a bit obsessed with photographing tiny hands and feet. Especially chunky baby feet.

When we arrived in Mississippi around lunch time, the kids were well rested and ready to play. The Momma and Dada, on the other hand, were a bit pooped. Logan went into full exploration mode:

He rode the “tractor”.

We checked out the garden. Granny and Papa grow figs, tomatoes, blueberries, peppers… and probably more that I’m not thinking of!

We found some cicada shells. Logan thought they were pretty cool. He carried them around and showed everyone.

Chris and Papa hung out in the garage and talked. Atticus joined them for a bit and crawled around the ground trying to get into as much trouble as he possibly could.

Logan rode his ‘tractor’ and ran around so much that he was ready for a nap. I snuck in and took this because his little eyelashes are SO long. Sweet sleepy little face.

When Logan woke up we got the boys cleaned up and headed outside to take some pictures. I started with this photo of the tree. There’s a funny story about me and pine trees, actually. The first time I went to Mississippi was the first time that I had been around really tall pine trees. We were all hanging out in the backyard and I looked up and was like, “hey guys, why are there so many birds up in the tree? They’re everywhere!” Yeah…. those weren’t birds. They were pine cones. And I felt like an idiot…

I never got around to taking any 9 month photos of Atticus… so these will have to do. 🙂

This little goose would not stand still for anything! I’d plop him down in front of the tree and he’s take off running:

Saturday morning Papa got up and started tending to his garden. Logan was happy to help him out.

Logan also rode the tractor. Again. He might grow up to be a farmer with the amount of love her holds for tractors. I’m totally okay with this.

This little goose spent some time with Nana. He drank some ice water from a cup and wasn’t too sure what to think.

The blueberry bush didn’t have many blueberries left on it… but Logan found all of the ones he could.

Stay tuned for part 2 of our trip to Mississippi!
