Miranda and I took the boys to the Dallas Zoo and had the BEST time. Like seriously… it was the best day ever. We decided to go the week that the kids went back to school so we were just about the only people there. No crowds. No lines. No one. It was fantastic.
Our day started in Thomas. Logan’s newest obsession is this Thomas tent. He sleeps in it every night. He had to show his buddy Marshall how cool it is.
.
Then we went to the zoo… where we got to park right up front. It was the closest I’ve ever parked. Ever.
.
Then we took the obligatory photo in front of the welcome sign. Well, actually we took several because these toddlers were refusing to look at us and smile. The nerve!
.
Once we were in, the exploring started…
.
This was probably my favorite part. We got to feed the giraffes and pet them– and since there wasn’t anyone else there, I didn’t have to worry about people butting in or stealing my giraffe! 🙂
.
So, this guy made me sad. I was making fun of him because I thought he was just sticking his tongue out. Then it was pointed out that he is missing teeth so his tongue can’t stay in his mouth. Totally made me feel like an ass!
.
It was super hot the day we went, so most of the animals were laying in the shade. Luckily, in some of the enclosures, the shade is right next to the windows. We got to see this guy up close and personal:
.
My sweet boy was trying to share his water with the lion. <3
.
We were able to explore the kids area a bit more this time since there weren’t any people. Last time we went to the Dallas Zoo, there were so many people crammed into the kid area that we just avoided it. This time, we were the only ones!
This stream area was a blast for all of the boys. The bigs ones liked running and jumping… and the little one liked crawling through and splashing. Atticus is very much a water baby. He loves it.
As we were playing in the water, the man that works in the goat area came over and asked if we wanted to help him feed the goats. We totally took him up on his offer!
.
Logan loved the goats so much. He ran up to one and gave it a hug. He said, “Hi smiley goat!” That makes me laugh so much!
We finished up our day with the the goats and then headed home. It was most definitely the most memorable trip to the zoo that we’ve ever taken. We are so glad that we got to spend it with our sweet friends!
Oh the giraffe with the missing teeth! You capture him beautifully. (And everything and everyone else, as always, too).
You’re so sweet! I hadn’t been very good about documenting the kiddos lately, so I’m happy that I’m finally get back to it! And that giraffe was so sweet. I kinda wanted to take him home with us.
