Day 5 began with Chris being creepy. Lauren was sleeping on the couch. He snuggled up next to her and whispered in her ear, “Thanks for last night” haha.
We took a trip to the New York Transit Museum. We had reciprocity through our local museum membership, so we got in for free, hooray! To be honest, I wasn’t all that excited about it. Transit isn’t really something I’ve ever thought about or been super excited about, but the museum surprised me. It wound up being really neat, and the kids loved it.
The museum is in a decommissioned train station so we had to go underground to get to it.
Pucci is pointing out where she lives on the transit map.
The subway system now vs the early 1900’s. Things have changed just a little bit.
The first level of the museum was dedicated to learning how the subway system was created. The kids enjoyed pretending to set off dynamite and trying to lift heavy wheelbarrows full of rocks.
There was an assortment of turnstiles that have been used through the years.

There was a lower level of the museum that housed a bunch of old decommissioned train cars, some dating all the way back to the early 1900’s. This was definitely our favorite part!
The lighting and the colors combined with Atti’s awesome combover make him look like a little old man.
Yasssss, girl!
Back upstairs we learned about the bus system. Logan really enjoyed getting to drive.
Then we headed over to Chinatown to walk around a bit.
And from Chinatown, we headed into Little Italy.
While in Little Italy, we decided to stop and eat at Lombardi’s, which claims to be America’s first pizzeria. It was yummy!!
On the way home, we road the J train because part of the way, it’s above ground. The kids really enjoyed getting to watch out the window!
