Logan turned 2 on December 23rd. I love this age. Love. Love. Love. He’s curious, learning so fast and it’s fun to watch him engage in things that are completely mundane and typical for us, but new and exciting for him. Like getting water from the fridge. I do it a million times a day and never think twice about it. We just recently got him a step stool so he can get his own water, and it’s like a fountain of fun all the time.
He’s such a sweet kid, too. If you are upset or crying he will come and pat you and tell you that it’s going to be ” so ‘kay”. He loves to snuggle and be held close. When we tuck him in at night he will often ask to ‘snuggle Momma in big bed’. He just learned how to give an actual kiss (puckering his lips) and gives them away to anyone who will take them, especially our dog Sarge. He loves his brother so much and is always so sweet to him. If I am holding Atticus and Logan wants to be held, he will come up to him and say, ” ‘scuse me, brudder.” It’s quite possibly the cutest thing I have ever seen. He loves his Dada and enjoys play wrestling with him and talking to him through FaceTime during the day when he’s at work. And nothing can bring a smile to my face quite like hearing him say, “lub you, Momma.”
He loves playing outside… discovering, exploring, and observing. Riding his bike, kicking a ball, and climbing on anything he can find. He likes sensory based activities like playing in the water, with rice, playdoh, mud, and sand. He enjoys helping me cook and clean up. He’s my little shadow throughout the day.
He is talking so much. Right now his favorite thing to say is “No way!” or “Hi, (insert random noun/adjective here)!! Chomp, chomp!” Example… he was in the bath the other day washing himself. He looked down and said, “Hi penis! Chomp, chomp!’ There was also the time we were doing a puzzle and he picked up the yellow piece and said, “Hi yellow! Chomp, chomp!” I’m not really sure where this came from, but it’s hilarious.
He knows most of his colors and shapes and can count to 10, though sometimes he gets a little mixed up and leaves out some numbers… or repeats some. He loves to sing and play his ukelele and his favorite song to sing right now is ‘Happy Birthday’. He has learned to use the potty at home, now we just have to tackle staying dry in public. He loves to read and be read to. His favorites are the ‘Llama Llama’ books or the ‘Skippyjon Jones’ books. He’s also quite the little whiz on the iPad. He likes to play puzzle and counting games. And we don’t usually do TV in this house during the week, but on the weekends he enjoys watching a little Curious George.
Logan has the most beautiful personality. He is very emotional, opinionated, and sensitive. He is my very spirited child and he feels his emotions with his whole body. Right now we are working on him learning how to calm himself down when he gets upset to try to avoid some of the typical 2 year old tantrums. He’s also started remembering his dreams. Lately, he’s been telling me that he dreams about dinosaurs and that he is scared. I was trying to explain to him that dinosaurs are extinct and can’t hurt him… he then told me that the dinosaurs are too loud. So, we’ve been practicing telling the dinosaurs to be quiet. It’s pretty funny to hear him laying in his bed saying “Hush, dinosaurs! Quiet!”
I love him more than I ever thought I could love another human being. And being his Momma has taught and changed me so much. I am so excited to see him grow up into an incredible man (just like his Dada)!
This photo was taken right before midnight on 12/22. It was the last photo taken of Logan as a one year old.

On the morning of his birthday, we made him a special breakfast with pancakes, bacon, eggs, and his favorite fruit. He helped in the kitchen, of course. Cooking is one of his favorite things to help with.

We practiced him answering how old he is.

That evening, we went to dinner with Nana and Pop Pop to eat Logan’s favorite food… chips and salsa and tacos!
The following weekend we took a family trip to the Dallas World Aquarium to celebrate Logan turning 2. We opted for an experience instead of a party this year. Logan loves animals and has enjoyed trips to the aquarium before–plus we stopped at Dave and Busters on the way home for some games and dinner. Both sets of grandparents joined us, plus Aunt Lauren and Miranda brought along Marshall, Logan’s little BFF.
