Our second week was definitely more eventful than our first. Chris had to go back to work on Monday and my sister went back to Florida, so we were on our own for a couple of days. I was really nervous about being home with both boys by myself. I think that’s what I’ve been the most worried about during the pregnancy and since Atti was born… being mom to 2 and having to make sure that each one feels like they are getting enough attention and love from me–all while trying to not lose my  mind with the lack of sleep and being able to keep up a routine so we can have a clean house and food on the table… and then there’s all of the stuff that I do for our photography business and finding some time in the day to spend with Chris. Jeez… just typing that makes me feel tired and overwhelmed.

Anyway, the good news is that we survived our first day. And we were even productive enough to get laundry done and dinner cooked… if you can count putting a frozen lasagna in the oven as cooking. Here are some photos from that first day:

Logan giving Atticus some snuggles. He loves to hold his little brother and give him kisses. We are still working on making sure that Logan is always gentle, but otherwise, he’s been doing a great job!

Our day was not without tears, though. That’s what happens when you are a toddler. It’s hard to be 2.

We also made some special time to get in some Logan and Momma snuggles while Atticus took a nap. That Rock N Play Sleeper has been a lifesaver. Atticus sleeps so well in it!

Our second day at home by ourselves was more difficult than our first. Atticus was up most of the night with a gassy tummy so I was super tired. We spent the day snuggling and super dad brought home take out for dinner.

On Wednesday our friend Miranda came for a visit. Chris and I had attempted Atti’s newborn portraits a couple of days before and even though we are photographers and have done many newborn sessions, we couldn’t get it to work with Atticus. He just refused to cooperate with us! So, when Miranda came over and listened to me gripe about not getting many good shots of Atti, she decided to do an impromptu session and used our camera to get some shots. Of course, Atticus slept nicely for her.  Also on Wednesday, Julie got into town to visit and help us out for a couple of weeks. We really have the best friends in the whole world. <3

Thursday was Halloween. I had been so consumed with being pregnant and the birth that I had completely forgotten about Halloween and needing a costume for Logan. Luckily, his amazing Aunts Hima and Julie found out that I was seriously slacking in the costume department and sent him a dinosaur costume in the mail. His favorite shows are about dinosaurs and he loves to “Rawr” so it was a perfect choice. But, anyone who knows Logan knows that he hates to wear hats, so the fact that he wore his dino head all night long was pretty amazing. He was very proud of his costume! Nana and Pop Pop came over to go trick or treating with us and then we all went out to eat afterwards. The boys did great!

On Friday morning we decided to go to story time at the library with Aunt Julie. Logan loves the puppets!

On Friday evening Logan started running a low grade fever. By Saturday morning it was a full blown high fever. Having a sick toddler AND a newborn is probably one of the most challenging things this family has been through lately. Waking up every hour with Logan and every couple of hours with Atticus… all the while being worried that Atti would get sick… was super stressful. Logan had the fever all weekend and it went up even higher on Sunday evening, so we made an appointment with the doctor on Monday. It wound up being a viral tonsillitis, poor baby. Luckily enough no one else in the family wound up catching it.

Our little Squish has been a gassy dude. And he makes man sized grunting noises as he tries to pass gas… as seen in the following video:
