So, Mr. Logan officially became a part of our little family on December 23 at 11:23pm.  Our first week has been an absolute whirlwind.  Luckily, we have the most amazing family and friends and have had a constant stream of support (and some pretty delicious food, too).  This postpartum recovery business is a lot more intense than I had prepared myself for.  I guess I didn’t really know what to expect, but definitely should have expected it to be worse than what it is!  Now I understand why the midwives have preached 3 days of bed rest after having a baby.  It’s all making sense now.

This breastfeeding business has been pretty intense, too.  I can totally see how a lot of women choose to forgo the bleeding nipples and being the only one who can feed the baby at all hours of the night.  Not to mention that the little guy likes to use his mommy as a pacifier… which just makes the soreness worse.  Breastfeeding is something that is very important to me, though… so we will persevere.  I figure that if I am stubborn enough to get him here the way I wanted to (*see Birth Story*), then I am stubborn enough to get through this and feed him the way I want to.  I just can’t wait until it doesn’t hurt anymore!!

We had our 3 day appointment at the Birth Center this week.  Everything is looking good… and Mr. Logan did not lose any weight.  He weighs the exact same as when he was born.  Apparently, this never happens–most babies lose weight after birth.  Guess our guy is a little piggy. 🙂

I still don’t think the fact that I’m a mother has really sunken in yet.  I sit here and look at this little guy who was in my belly just a few days ago, and I can’t believe that he’s mine.  Maybe after the visitors stop and it’s just the three of us it will actually feel real…. until then, cute baby photobomb!!!

This picture makes me laugh.  Petey’s wonk eye caught the flash and now he looks like the Terminator. We never knew we would have a robot dog from the future watching over our baby.  We’re so lucky. 🙂
