I have a 5 week old baby today. I know that I say it every week, but time sure flies by.
We had to go back to the doctor on Monday. Mr. Logan has a small case of newborn acne on his little cheeks that started last week. On Monday morning, we woke up and it had spread to his neck, ears, and scalp. I had seen some pretty yucky cases of newborn acne while searching for answers on Dr. Google, so I felt pretty confident that it wasn’t something serious, but decided to make an appointment just to be safe. Turns out our little dude has some pretty sensitive skin and was reacting to our laundry detergent. Well, we think it’s the laundry detergent. Chris had just washed the sheets on Sunday and always uses a generous amount of fabric softener and several dryer sheets… and it was Monday that Mr. Logan’s rash got bad. And guess who slept with his Mommy after Daddy left for work Monday morning. So, it makes sense that it’s the laundry detergent. I guess I should have figured that since disposable diapers and wipes make his little bottom red and rashy. Luckily, we just have to change detergents, so it’s an easy fix.
While at the doctor, our FatBaby got weighed again… little stinker weighed 11lbs 12 oz! That means that he gained damn near 4 lbs in his first month of life. If he keeps up the pace, he’s going to weigh 50lbs by his first birthday! The doctor laughed at me cause I asked him at what point we need to start thinking about putting him on Baby Weight Watchers. It sounds hilarious, but I was worried that I am feeding him too much. I haven’t really put him on a schedule yet… we are still feeding him on demand. Dr. Newell assured me that we are doing the right thing and that he will lean out as he gets older. Whew. I was seriously worried. At least I can keep calling him FatBaby. 🙂
So, aside from our weight milestones, Mr. Logan decided that he would start really following objects with his eyes. We can walk across the room and he will move his eyes and even turn his head to follow us. He has been slowly working up to this point over the past couple of weeks, but this week was the first time that we saw him follow us all the way across the room. I have also noticed a change in the sounds that he makes. He is definitely exploring his voice and the different sounds that he can create. When I lay him down for his back/tummy time in the mornings, he will lay there and make noises that almost sound like a cry, but he’s not upset. It’s so much fun to listen to him coo! And then, Chris was playing with him the other night after work, and he laughed!! I ran in the living room cause I heard it… then he did it again! I grabbed the video camera, but he was done…. just my luck. We will keep working on getting him to do it again. 🙂
And now… the weekly pictures off my iPhone. I promise I will someday upload the pictures that I have been taking with our dSLR. He might be 5 by the time I get around to it. 🙂
Taking a nap on Mommy’s chest after eating lunch. This is probably his most favorite place to be… aside from being on his Daddy’s chest.
Hanging out in the rocking chair with Mommy while we watch Law & Order: SVU.
During the our morning back/tummy time. Sarge likes to help and sun himself at the same time. Luckily the weather has been awesome and we have been enjoying having the back door open so the puppies can run in and out.
This is the view that I wake up to in the morning. *Love*
