The Icepocalypse continues! We started our day out with a little cooking. We make a pretty mean breakfast casserole. I’ve been trying out recipes for our Christmas morning breakfast. I think this one might be it! It’s so delicious. And it keeps well, so we can eat on it all week.
I made bone broth for the base of a soup. I boiled a whole chicken on day 2 of our Icepocalypse and then let the bones simmer all night with some veggies, spices, and a splash of apple cider vinegar. The house smelled delicious!
Petey heard that the other dogs had their photos taken and added to the blog. He was upset that he was left out. So…
.
Chris worked on a time-lapse video most of the day… in his PJs… in the cold. Logan tried to help.
Step back ladies. He’s ALL mine!
.
We also had some playtime in the playroom. We’ve been re-organizing and re-arranging as we get ready for the big playroom remodel that WILL (finally!) happen in 2014.
.
We called and checked in on Grandma. Logan got to talk to her on the phone. It was pretty freaking adorable.

Time to check in on the soup. It cooked down and so I removed the bones and yucky bits. Added some water to thin out the broth… it was REALLY broth-y. Ha. Added some more spices, veggies, chicken, and noodles. And nursed a baby while doing so. BAM!
.
During nap time the Momma and the Dada worked– Dada on his video project. Momma on the blog.
.
This creative Momma was seriously running out of activities and things to keep the kiddos occupied and happy. I scoured my Pinterest board for some Christmas crafts and put together the materials during nap time. Thank goodness I am a hoarder and have a craft (crap) closet that rivals the selection at Hobby Lobby.
After coloring, we took a break for a little snack. Atticus had his snack while we colored. Multitasking for the win!
We then got to work on gluing some cotton balls down to make Santa’s beard. Even Atticus helped. He was our official cotton ball holder.
After we successfully glued cotton to our fingertips (and to Santa’s beard), we moved on to a snowman building activity. This was a little like Mr. Potato Head, but with snowmen.
This was a little difficult for Logan. He helped me pick the colors for my snowmen:
And he made his own. It looks a little bit like a helicopter crashed into his snowman.
Our soup was finally finished so we ate dinner. It was amazing. Perfect comfort food for this super cold day!
After dinner, we all played together in the playroom. Building with blocks is a favorite activity around here. I’m sure I’ve talked about Logan’s affinity for ‘crashing’ down our towers. That hasn’t changed.
We got the boys ready for bed, read a story, and turned out the lights. We then snuggled up on the couch for a little junk food and TV time and watched our sweet baby sleep in the light of the Christmas tree. I then snuck in Logan’s room and used the glow from my iPhone to get a photo of him sleeping. It’s super grainy, but I think I like it.
So sad the Icepocalypse is over. We had so much fun being stuck in the house together and I’m so glad that we made time to capture the moments and blog about them. Thank you for reading. <3
