We spent our last morning in Gulf Shores at the Nature Center.

We got to see a baby alligator. He was pretty adorable!

The kids were really nervous about sticking their hands in this box. Luckily, it was filled with antlers and nothing that could bite them, which is what they were worried about, haha.

Those big bones are a whale vertebrae and rib bone!

The center also had a few birds of prey that they had rescued for various reasons. And remember the pelican that we got super close to at the pier? We found out that his name is Sam and he was rescued, rehabilitated, and then released. He still likes to hang around the pier and steal fish from the fisherman.

Our departure was delayed because it started storming. Here’s that photo of the campsite that I promised a few posts ago. None of our other stuff is set up because I didn’t remember to take the photo until we were about to pull out. Whoops. I need to get better about that.

We stopped off in Jackson to visit Chris’ grandparents. It had been a few years since we had been to see them– and they had never met Lorelei!

Atticus was feeling grouchy and needed some space and alone time. My sweet boy is so much like me, haha.

Granny made a huge dinner and had everyone over to hang out. It was so great to get to see everyone again! The next morning she made us a delicious breakfast and played with the kids for a while.

Papaw and Chris had some time to catch up.

And then we said goodbye! With promises to visit again soon. It really was too long in between visits.

Breaking up the drive home was the best decision ever. Our kids are great at road tripping, but it was nice to not have to leave before dawn and then get home when it was still light outside!

Until our next adventure… <3
