We have road tripped a lot– especially in the last year since we bought the trailer, but holy crap, we haven’t had a hard travel day like this one. We ran into issue after issue and by the end of the day, I just wanted to go home again. Luckily, we ended the day at the beach, so that quickly changed my mind.
It all started out in the morning while we were driving and we were getting a lot of swaying action from the trailer. Chris was white knuckling it down the highway and I thought he was going to have an anxiety attack. We pulled over to troubleshoot and after moving some of the stuff around in the trailer, we determined that we didn’t have the weight inside distributed evenly. First issue resolved!
Then in the middle of the day, we were having to stop for someone to pee every hour it seemed. And the kids were just SO insanely excited about being at the beach– and the fact that their friends were going to be there too– they could not go to sleep in the car. They usually nap pretty well in the car during road trips, but they had some serious FOMO going on! And sweet little Atticus probably asked “Are we there yet?” a million times. Whew!
After lunch, we hit some traffic, which always makes things drag on when road tripping. And then randomly we started hearing this strange noise coming from the truck. We pulled over (AGAIN!) and tried to figure out what was going on. We *think* it was the towing mirrors vibrating in the wind, but we still aren’t completely sure. That is super frustrating!
And then, the icing on the cake, when we finally reached our campsite our refrigerator wouldn’t come on. I made a bunch of food to bring on the trip so I wouldn’t have to cook as much during the week, and I was so worried that it was all going to go bad. A friend saw my complaining about the newest issue on my IG story and made a suggestion, and it worked. We still aren’t sure exactly why it worked or if maybe our fridge is going out, but for this week, we aren’t thinking about it.
We got camp set up and immediately headed for the beach. We were in such a hurry to get there, I didn’t even snap a shot of our campsite. I’ll do that another day. Logan’s face here is pretty much how we all felt about finally getting to the beach…
And we were greeted with the most magical sunset.
We got to boogie board for a little bit, which is all we’ve been hearing about since we told the kids that we were going to the beach. It’s their absolute favorite beach activity.
Lorelei, on the other hand, hates the ocean.
“Nope. Nope. Nope.”
See, happy in the sand.
And noping away from the ocean.
Big brother trying to help her see that the ocean isn’t so bad. She’s saying “NO ATTI!!!!”
The waves are so much fun!
Even Daddy got in on the boogie boarding action.
OMG… I love this photo.
Stay tuned for Day 2!
