I love babywearing.  Being able to be hands free and shop, clean, cook, nurse…etc has made this motherhood gig a whole lot easier!  Our babywearing journey started out with the MobyWrap when Logan was 2 weeks old.  It took us a while to learn it, but after several youtube videos and trial runs at the house, we were able to use it for the first time on an outing to Lowe’s (picture).  It was one of our most favorite things when our TinyFat was a tiny baby.  That kid hated being swaddled, but loved his Moby.  When he was a super grump, I would wear him in the Moby and vacuum to get him to fall asleep.  Worked every. Single. Time.

We comfortably wore the MobyWrap until Logan was about 6 months old.  The Moby is made of stretchy jersey material and it was too hot to wear during the hot Texas summer.  It has been retired to the closet until we get lucky enough to have another tiny squish to put in it.  Around this time, we started using our ring sling all the time.  I bought the ring sling and hated it at first.  I felt like it was too hard… even harder to learn than the Moby.  But after enough practice, we figured it out.  It has become our new love.  And it’s been a huge lifesaver when we’ve been out and about and I’ve needed to nurse.  I can snuggle Logan down in it and no one can even tell what I am doing.  And, it’s my favorite color:

It’s also so easy that Daddy’s can do it too:

Earlier this week, Logan and I spent the day at Grapevine Mills Mall with our friends Megan and Oliver.  I wore Logan in the ringsling for most of the day and by the end of it, my back and shoulders were killing me.  Looks like someone has gotten too heavy to be carried in the ringsling for long periods of time.  I mean, I can still manage a trip to the grocery store, but the whole day at the mall… or the zoo… or aquarium will kill me.  So… fun news for me!  Time to pick out my first soft structured carrier!!  I had been doing some research and lusting after several different ones for months.  I just haven’t been able to fork over $150 for one.  I mean, with my cloth diaper addiction, there was no room in the budget for a babywearing addiction, too.  That is, until I found out that the Ergo was on sale… and I found a coupon online… and didn’t have to pay for shipping!  Ladies and gents (I mean, Dad… cause he’s the only dude that reads this thing)… meet my new toy:

You can front, back, and hip carry and change out the fabrics!  Or not use any fabric at all and just have a plain black carrier (Chris!).  It should be here sometime next week and I couldn’t be more excited!  I think I am most excited about being able to try out a back carry.  You cannot safely back carry with a Moby and I’ve been too chicken to try it in the ring sling.  Also exciting is that it will distribute Logan’s weight more evenly and hopefully my back will no longer hurt when we babywear.  Blog post and pictures when we get it in!
