Monday morning we woke up and set out for Wyoming. Our plan was to go to Yellowstone National Park. We didn’t have reservations or any idea where we wanted to stay or go while we were there. We like to fly by the seat of our pants, haha. Luckily, our one million hour drive gave us plenty of time to find a place to stay and do the necessary research on the park.

Initially, we thought about camping at Yellowstone. There are many sites that are first come, first serve and if you get there super early in the morning, you can snag one. But after calling around in the small town of West Yellowstone, MT, we found an RV park right outside the West entrance to the park that had an opening. We were glad that we found a spot outside of Yellowstone. It was nice to be in town where we had stores and restaurants if we needed them. Plus, our campsite had full hookups, showers, and laundry facilities… whereas the campsites in Yellowstone did not.

Our drive was a long, beautiful one. It was so interesting to see the shift in terrain. From the tree filled mountains of Washington to rolling hills and grasslands–this part of the country is so amazingly beautiful.

The kids slept on and off all day. They were worn out from our epic weekend in Washington so that made the 14 hr drive go by smoothly for them. We finally arrived at our campsite at around 2 am. Luckily, I got a second wind around midnight and took over driving for Chris. By the time we got into our spot and got everything hooked up and the trailer detached from the truck, it was nearly 3am when we went to sleep!
