This week Logan turned 7 months old!  He also decided it was time to hit a bunch of milestones!  To begin with, here is a video of him ACTUALLY crawling.  He’s been dragging himself around army style for about a month.  He started that in the middle of June, the week before he turned 6 months old.  Ever since, he has seemed content inch-worming around.  I kind of thought that he was just going to get around like that until he learned to walk. Then it just kind of clicked for him in the middle of this week.

And please excuse his messy playroom in that video.  We clean it each evening, but it tends to get pretty messy during the day.  Obviously:

That kid is into EVERYTHING.  ALL the time.  And now that he is really crawling, he is so freaking fast.  The other night I was cooking dinner and Logan was playing nicely in his playroom.  All of a sudden I hear dog food being rustled around… and the dogs were outside.  I turned around and my fast baby had a handful of kibble about to have himself a tasty appetizer before his spaghetti.  Disgusting.  Not to mention a possible choking hazard.  Needless to say, we are having to keep a very close eye on Jr. these days.  And the dog food and water bowls have been moved to a location that Logan cannot get to.

On Tuesday he decided that he was going to stand up.  He’s been pulling himself up since the end of June and has pretty much had a constant bruise or 2 on his head from pulling up and falling down.  This week he decided that pulling up was not enough.  Instead, he used Chris to push himself up to a standing position, and then let go.  He balanced himself and stood there for a few seconds before falling.  It was long enough for me to snap this picture:

Then on Thursday morning, while I was changing his first diaper of the day, he randomly started clapping.  At first I thought it was a fluke, and that he had just done it accidentally.  But he continued doing it all day…  and he hasn’t stopped since he figured it out!

The last big gross motor achievement for our guy this week is cruising.  Yes.  Cruising.  He hasn’t done it a whole lot, but he was really motivated one morning.  I was sitting on the couch eating breakfast.  He pulled himself up on the couch, but he was on the opposite end from where I was sitting.  He saw that I was eating, and he totally walked down to where I was sitting using the couch to steady himself…aka cruising.  He has only done it a couple other times and it’s only when he’s super motivated.  Hmmm… imagine that? 😉

I look at his milestone calendar that our sweet friend Amy gave to us, and this week has something written on it every single day.  In the language department, he has been making a ton of progress.  He is starting to make a lot of different noises and he is getting really good at imitating our mouth movements.  He approximated the word ‘Momma’ this week.  He was in his crib and crying for me to come get him out.  I modeled ‘Momma’ a couple of times (which I think was just frustrating him even more) and I got a very angry sounding ‘ah-ah’.  I think that /mm/ sound is too hard for him still.  He also told our friend Megan ‘hi’.

Our babyled weaning (BLW) has also been going really well.  So much so that Logan tried Cheerios (well, not that brand… they were actually Cascade Farms O’s) and blueberries this week.  I just realized that we haven’t talked a whole lot about our experiences with BLW.  Google it and read about it.  I totally recommend it!  We haven’t bought any pureed baby food at all.  He eats what we eat (within reason).  It’s forced us to eat healthier, too.  Our only issue is that he got a little constipated right before we went to Mississippi, so we just backed off on the solids for a couple of weeks.  We are back doing them again, full force… and not because we are pushing them on him.  He won’t let us eat without being right there in the middle of it, eating with us.  If you are putting food in your face, you better be prepared to share with our FatBaby.  He is just now getting to the point where his pincher grip is becoming more developed and he is able to pick up small pieces of food.  This week he loved the O’s, very ripe blueberries (cut in half), and of course his yogurt.  His yogurt that is ONLY yogurt and probably the most sour thing ever in the history of the world.  Makes my mouth pucker but my weird baby loves it.

We had this week off from watching Sarah because she was in a science camp.  Instead, we went to yoga, on a playdate, to Mothergoose time at the library, and made new friends.  We met Megan and Oliver this week!  Megan is a fellow Momma in my local mom’s support group.  She found out that I babysit/nanny on the side and contacted me about watching her little guy.  Turns out that we have a lot in common and are new BFFs.  Oliver is SO cute and Logan is already learning so much from him.  He’s a little older than Logan… he’s 14 months, but you can tell that Logan is very interested in everything Ollie does.  That are going to be great buds!

Welp, that’s about it for our week.  At the rate he’s going, Logan will be riding a unicycle before his 1st birthday… 🙂  I’m still hoping that he slows down.  My TinyFatBaby is starting to turn into a toddler…
