This year for the 4th of July, we went to the river with Gramps, Gram and the rest of the crew. Valerie rented a cabin to celebrate the family birthdays… Valerie’s birthday is very close to her brother’s and her Mom’s, so we just had a big party for all of them!

We had SO much fun. It had been years since Chris and I had been to the river and it was Logan’s first time. Chris and I were even able to get some work done while we were down there. We had a client in San Antonio who hired us to do newborn photos and it just worked out that their baby was born in time for us to do the photos while we were already down in their area. I love it when things work out perfectly. <3

We took a bunch of photos while we were down there. I feel like we’ve been so busy taking photos for other people lately, that we’ve been neglecting taking photos of our own little family. I’m sure that’s a problem for most photographers.

The cabin that they rented was right on the river. It was pretty amazing to walk out in the backyard and see the river surrounded by huge trees. It was absolutely gorgeous.

This trip was Logan’s first time being in/near water that wasn’t a pool. He was pretty intrigued by the rapids. In the next few photos, Chris got into the river (with our nice camera and expensive lens) to capture the photos. Talk about being a nervous wreck! Anyway, as you can tell from the photos, Logan didn’t quite know what to think about the river.

Oh, well hello Baby Squish! I was 25 weeks pregnant with Baby here. And I look ginormous!

Logan decided he wanted to go in the kayak with Gramps. He was not thrilled about the life jacket he had to wear.

Ok, I was being silly and Chris decided to take my photo. This was my best attempt at “sexy mermaid” and it OBVIOUSLY wasn’t working. I’m more like Ursula getting ready to eat the sexy mermaid.
