Every now and then Chris’ days off fall so that he gets a 3 day weekend. We have decided that when that happens, we will try to get out of town. Now that we have the trailer, it’s easier and more economical for us to get away for the weekend. This time around, we decided to hit up the beach. Our nearest beach is Galveston, and while it’s not the prettiest, it’s still the ocean. And you can’t beat a 5 hr drive… versus driving 8-12 for white, fluffy sand. For a short trip… and a Momma who desperately needed to put her toes in some sand and breathe in some salty sea air… Galveston was perfect!

When we went to Galveston a couple of years ago we found this awesome little beach while exploring one day. We drove a little further south down Galveston Island and found Jamaica Beach. It’s awesome because you’re able to drive your vehicle out onto the sand, so it makes it really convenient for us to be able to load up and take everything with us. We also recently discovered that if you go a little further down the coast, you can camp on the beach. This is a future goal– pulling the RV out onto the beach and setting up camp with the ocean literally at our front door. I can’t wait to open the windows and hear the surf as I’m laying in bed. Hopefully this can happen sooner rather than later– we just need to get a few things for the rig.

This time around we stayed at the Jamaica Beach RV Resort. It was a nice place with plenty to do– though we didn’t actually do anything but sleep there. They have several swimming pools and a lazy river, but we spent all of our time at the beach. If we ever go back and spend more than a short weekend, the pools would definitely be on our list of things to do. The staff was really nice and accommodating. When we first arrived, there was a fire ant mound in the grass near our picnic table. They came immediately and took care of it for us. We would definitely visit here again.

When we arrived a little after 11am on Friday, we got our trailer set up and ate some lunch… then headed straight for the beach! Sarge came with us on the trip and was able to see the ocean for the first time. He seemed to enjoy the beach the first day! (The second day, not so much…lol– he stared showing signs of a UTI.)

Chris surprised the boys with brand new boogie boards. They had a blast.

Also, I love this view. I could have sat here forever.

This was our Pea Pie’s first trip to the Gulf. Her first beach was actually in WA… but it was too cold to swim. She loved playing in the waves and the sand.

Also… since Lorelei is now over a year old, I’ve been taking more and more nursing photos. As her nursing days come to an end (and since she’s more than likely our last baby) I want to remember these sweet moments forever. And what better way to do that than document all the boobs all the time?!

Bubbles were a big hit on the beach. It was so windy, all you had to do was dip the stick– the wind took care of the rest!

We crashed hard Friday night. We had a lazy evening around the trailer and got to bed early. The littles slept in the next morning. Sometimes I catch them snuggling after I sneak out of bed. <3

We spent the majority of the day at the beach on Saturday. We had a storm roll through, as you can see in photos… the sky looks pretty ominous in a few of them. We just hung out in the truck while it rained… then it was over and we were back to playing!

Chris and the boys did some fishing and actually caught some fish!

That evening, we found a local seafood restaurant and went to dinner. We walked around the marina and looked at the boats coming in and out of the harbor. We tried to find a sticker for the door of our trailer, but couldn’t. I’m still a little bummed about that. We started collecting stickers from everywhere we visit in the trailer and have a nice little collection going.

We went back down to the beach when the sun went down and did a little crab hunting. We were able to find a couple different types… some hermit crabs that were in beautiful shells and also some fiddler crabs (I think!).

We were really sad to have to leave the next morning. Especially Logan who is now in love with boogie boarding. He’s been begging to go back every single day since we’ve been home. I’m so happy to have sparked the travel bug in my sweet little guy! <3
